UK aircraft carrier, S. Korean navy to hold joint maritime drill

SEOUL – A British aircraft carrier will stage a joint maritime drill with the South Korean navy this week, the British embassy in Seoul said on Monday.

The embassy said in a statement that the carrier strike group, headed by the aircraft carrier HMS Queen Elizabeth, entered the South Korean territorial waters on Monday.

The carrier strike group will engage closely with the South Korean navy while in the country, testing interoperability and sharing best practice, the embassy noted.

The South Korean defense ministry was quoted by Yonhap news agency as saying that the joint maritime exercises with the British carrier strike group will be conducted on Tuesday in the South Korean eastern waters.
