DPRK reports 100,710 more people with fever symptoms

SEOUL /  KUALA LUMPUR / SINGAPORE / NEW DELHI / WELLINGTON – The Democratic People's Republic of Korea reported 100,710 more people showing fever symptoms and one additional death amid the country's first confirmed coronavirus outbreak, state media KCNA said on Monday.

India

India's COVID-19 tally rose to 43,155,749 on Monday with 2,706 new cases registered during the past 24 hours across the South Asian country, showed the federal health ministry's latest data.

Besides, 25 deaths from the pandemic registered across the country since Sunday morning took the death toll to 524,611.

Currently there are 17,698 active COVID-19 cases in the country, an increase of 611 in the past 24 hours.

So far, 42,613,440 COVID-19 patients have been successfully cured and discharged from hospitals, including 2,070 newly reported recoveries.

Malaysia

Malaysia recorded 1,155 new COVID-19 infections as of midnight Sunday, bringing the total tally to 4,503,734, according to the health ministry.

The newly reported cases were three new imported cases and 1,152 local transmissions, data released on the ministry's website showed.

Five more deaths have been reported from the pandemic, bringing the death toll to 35,665.

The ministry reported 1,975 new recoveries, bringing the total number of COVID-19 patients cured and discharged to 4,443,676 in the Southeast Asian country.

New Zealand

New Zealand recorded 5,836 new community cases of COVID-19 and five more deaths from the pandemic, the Ministry of Health said on Monday.

Among the new community infections, 1,923 were reported in the largest city Auckland, the ministry said.

In addition, 52 new cases of COVID-19 were detected at the New Zealand border.

Currently, 403 COVID-19 patients are being treated in New Zealand hospitals, including 10 in intensive care units or high dependency units.

New Zealand has reported 1,148,905 confirmed cases of COVID-19 since the pandemic hit the country.

Singapore

Singapore reported 2,551 new cases of COVID-19 on Sunday, bringing the total tally to 1,295,920.

Of the new cases, 2,448 were local transmissions and 103 were imported cases. Among the local cases, 263 cases were detected through PCR (polymerase chain reaction) tests and 2,185 through ART (antigen rapid test) tests, according to statistics released by the Ministry of Health.

A total of 334 cases are currently warded in hospitals, with nine cases in intensive care units.

No more death was reported due to COVID-19 infection, keeping the death toll at 1,383, the ministry said.

Vietnam

Vietnam recorded 890 new COVID-19 cases on Sunday, down by 224 from Saturday, according to its ministry of health.

All the new infections were domestically transmitted in 39 provinces and cities.

The Vietnamese capital Hanoi was the pandemic hotspot with 282 new cases recorded on Sunday, followed by the northern Yen Bai province with 67 cases and the central Nghe An province with 60 cases.

The infections brought the total tally to 10,717,251 with 43,078 deaths.
