Pakistani FM to attend SCO meeting in India

ISLAMABAD – The Foreign Minister of Pakistan Bilawal Bhutto Zardari will attend the meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers (CFM) of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) to be held in the Indian city of Goa next month, Pakistan's foreign office spokesperson said here on Thursday.

During a weekly briefing, the foreign office spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch said that the foreign minister will be leading the Pakistani delegation to the meeting.

Zardari is attending the meeting on the invitation of the current chair of SCO CFM Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, Baloch said.

"Our participation in the meeting reflects Pakistan's commitment to the SCO Charter and processes and the importance that Pakistan accords to the region in its foreign policy priorities," she added.

Pakistan joined the SCO in 2017.
