During the meeting, Abbas stressed that the Egyptian-brokered ceasefire must include reconstructing what had been destroyed by the Israeli fighter jet airstrikes in the Gaza Strip.

The ceasefire must also include stopping the measures and assaults of Israeli soldiers and settlers against the Palestinians in the West Bank and East Jerusalem, he added.

On Tuesday, Palestinian medical sources said that a young Palestinian man was shot dead by Israeli soldiers in Ramallah.

Ahmed al-Betawi, director of Palestine medical complex in the city, told reporters that the man, named Ahmed Jamil Fahd, is from al-Amari refugee camp near Ramallah.
