Thailand, Japan vow to enhance cooperation in various sectors

BANGKOK – Thai Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha and his visiting Japanese counterpart Fumio Kishida on Monday agreed that the two countries should enhance cooperation in various fields including post-pandemic recovery and regional development.

Kishida arrived in the Thai capital Bangkok on Sunday for his first official visit to Thailand.

The two prime ministers vowed to enhance economic cooperation in sectors including supply chain connectivity, smart agriculture, 5G communication technology as well as the development of electric vehicles and components.

They promised to further strengthen cooperation in healthcare to address COVID-19 and other possible emerging diseases, and promote the gradual relaxation of immigration measures to facilitate travel between the two countries.
