SANAA – Yemen and the United Arab Emirates discussed in New York ways of promoting bilateral cooperation and the ongoing truce across Yemen, the national Yemen TV reported Wednesday.
Rashad Al-Alimi, chairman of Yemen's Presidential Leadership Council, told UAE Foreign Minister Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan that the Yemeni government values the UAE's continued support for the Yemeni people and briefed him on the latest developments of the national cease-fire that went into effect on April 2
Rashad Al-Alimi, chairman of Yemen's Presidential Leadership Council, held a meeting with UAE Foreign Minister Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan on Tuesday on the sidelines of the 77th session of the UN General Assembly in New York.

Alimi told the UAE diplomat that the Yemeni government values the UAE's continued support for the Yemeni people and briefed him on the latest developments of the national cease-fire that went into effect on April 2.
The Yemeni leader said the Houthi rebels' violations of the truce undermine the regional and global efforts aiming to bring peace and stability to Yemen.
For his part, the UAE minister affirmed his country's constant support for the Presidential Leadership Council and the Yemeni government in confronting common challenges at various levels.

Yemen has been mired in a civil war since late 2014 when the Iran-backed Houthi militia stormed several northern provinces and forced the Saudi and UAE-backed Yemeni government out of the capital Sanaa.
The Saudi-led Arab coalition intervened in the Yemeni conflict in the following year to support the Yemeni government.
