Carrie Lam handed National Games flag

Chief Executive Carrie Lam, along with the leaders of Guangdong and Macau, was on Monday handed over the National Games flag at the closing ceremony of the 14th edition of the games in Shaanxi.

The two SARs and the neighbouring mainland province will be co-hosting the mega-sports event in 2025.

The flag was lowered after Premier Li Keqiang announced the closure of the Shaanxi games at a fully packed gymnasium at the Xi’an Olympic Sports Center.

It was then passed on to Guangdong governor Ma Xingrui and the chief executives of the two SARs – Carrie Lam and Ho Iat-seng.

Hong Kong sent a 169-strong delegation to this year’s National Games, winning two gold and five bronze medals in events such as fencing, cycling and kata.
