Covid measures in place at Hong Kong Marathon start

Covid measures were in force as the Hong Kong Marathon got underway on Sunday. Runners wore face masks ahead of start, and removed them only after passing through the start gate.

Last year’s marathon was cancelled because of the pandemic and participants in this year’s race had to submit a health declaration.

The acting Chief Executive, John Lee, presided over the start at the southern end of Nathan Road.

The route takes runners over Stonecutters Bridge to the Western Harbour Crossing. The finish line is in Victoria Park.

There are also a number of other events, including a half marathon and a 10 kilometre run.

Temporary road closures are in place because of the races.
