HK fall short in second T20 World Cup qualifier

Hong Kong’s cricket team have been brought back down to earth after their winning start to the Women’s T20 World Cup Asian Region Qualifier in Dubai.

They lost their second game on Tuesday by 11 runs to the UAE.

Set a target of 129 for victory, Opener Natasha Miles started strongly with a top score of 37.

Captain Kary Chan added 25 and Mariko Hill 24. But when they were out, Hong Kong’s run chase faltered. They were bowled out for 117 in 20 overs.

The UAE lead the table with two wins from two games, with only the top team advancing to the global qualifiers.

Malaysia, Bhutan, and Kuwait round out the Asian qualifying group.
