HK wins more medals at national games for disabled

Hong Kong on Monday snatched three more gold and four more bronze medals at the National Games for Persons with Disabilities in Shaanxi.

Swimmer Wong Hon-yin – who has already won two gold medals in this year’s Games – delivered more stellar performances in the pool, winning two more gold medals in the men’s 100-metre breaststroke SB14 final and the men’s 100-metre freestyle S14 final.

Teammate Cheong Sui-kei also bagged another gold medal in the women’s 100-metre freestyle S14 final, adding to the gold and silver medals she won earler.

In table tennis, Leung Chung-yan and Tsoi Ming-fai came in third in the men’s doubles TT11 event, while Lee Ming-yip, Tong Chi-ming and Tong Chi-yung of the SAR beat the Hubei team 2-1 to win bronze in the TT7 team event.

In athletics, Yam Kwok-fan came third in the women’s 100-metre T36 final, achieving a personal best of 16.01 seconds.

Chow Chi-wai also took bronze in the men’s long jump T20, with a new personal best of 5.99 metres.

Hong Kong has so far won six gold, one silver and four bronze medals in the games.
