Lau Chi-ming takes bronze medal in karate

Hong Kong’s Lau Chi-ming has won a bronze medal in the karate event in the National Games in Shaanxi, with a wafer-thin margin of victory.

He scored 24.82 in the competition, and he won by just 0.7 of a point.

Lau said he’d been hoping for gold, but was happy with bronze.

It’s Hong Kong’s fourth medal in the Shaanxi games.

The Secretary for Home Affairs, Caspar Tsui, congratulated Lau, calling him “imposing”.

Tsui said Lau “demonstrated karatedo movements with power and speed that excited the audience.”
