Sarah Lee wins keirin bronze at National Games

Hong Kong cyclist Sarah Lee on Tuesday won bronze in women’s keirin at the National Games, her second medal in the competition.

She had finished first in the qualifiers and semi-finals, but could not overcome a slow start in the final.

Lee made up ground late in the race and came third among six riders.

In men’s keirin, To Cheuk-hei finished sixth in the final.

He advanced to the final after one of his semi-final opponents was disqualified.

Hong Kong now has one gold and two bronze medals at the National Games, all in cycling.

On Monday, Lee won gold in the sprint event, defeating her long-time rival Zhong Tianshi from Shanghai.

The opening ceremony of the National Games will be held on Wednesday, and RTHK will be showing the ceremony as well as the sporting action from Shaanxi province till September 27.
