Siobhan Haughey takes gold in 100m freestyle

Hong Kong swimmer Siobhan Haughey on Saturday took gold in the 100 metre Women’s Freestyle final at the FINA World Swimming Championships in Abu Dhabi, with Sarah Sjoestroem of Sweden and Abbey Weitzeil of the US taking silver and bronze.

Haughey’s time of 50.98 seconds was also a competition record.

On Thursday, the double-Olympic-silver-medallist became Hong Kong’s first-ever swimming world record holder, when she won gold in the 200 metre Short Course Freestyle event, clocking a time of 1 minute 50.31 seconds.
