Singapore reports 3,222 new COVID-19 cases

SINGAPORE / YANGON / MANILA / HANOI – Singapore reported 3,222 new cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday, bringing the total tally to 1,879,806.

Of the new cases, 230 cases were detected through PCR (polymerase chain reaction) tests and 2,992 through ART (antigen rapid test) tests, according to statistics released by the Ministry of Health.

Among the PCR cases, 214 were local transmissions and 16 were imported cases. Among the ART cases with mild symptoms and assessed to be of low risk, there were 2,764 local transmissions and 228 imported cases.

A total of 232 cases are currently warded in hospitals, with 11 cases in intensive care units.

One new death was reported from COVID-19 on Tuesday, bringing the death toll to 1,609, the ministry said.

Myanmar 

Myanmar confirmed 399 new cases of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours, bringing the total tally to 619,566, according to its Ministry of Health on Tuesday.

The death toll from COVID-19 rose to 19,450 on Tuesday after two new deaths were reported in the past 24 hours in the country, the ministry said.

The Philippines

The Philippines reported 1,600 new COVID-19 infections on Tuesday, bringing the total number of confirmed cases in the Southeast Asian country to 3,925,326.

Metro Manila, the capital region with over 13 million people, recorded 743 new cases.

The Philippines reported its highest COVID-19 single-day tally of 39,004 new cases on Jan 15. The country, with a population of around 110 million, has fully vaccinated over 72.9 million people.

Vietnam

Vietnam recorded 3,177 new COVID-19 cases on Tuesday, up by 1,399 from Monday, according to its ministry of health.

All the new cases were locally transmitted, said the health ministry.

The newly reported infections brought the total tally to 11,463,404. The country reported a new death from the pandemic in the southern city of Can Tho on Tuesday, bringing the total fatalities to 43,142.
